Keeping Children Safe: How Skippy’s is Committed to Child Protection in Central Queensland

ree

At Skippy’s Early Learning, the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is our top priority. With our centres in Frenchville (Rockhampton North), Gracemere, Yeppoon on the Central Coast, we are proud to provide nurturing, engaging, and secure environments where children can learn, play, and grow.

Strengthened Child Safety Regulations

Recent updates to the National Quality Framework (NQF) and Queensland Child Protection Laws have introduced important changes to early childhood education, childcare, and kindergarten services. These reforms focus on:

  • Stronger digital safety practices – including restrictions on personal device use in care areas

  • Clearer incident reporting and faster response times to safety concerns

  • Enhanced supervision and risk management across all activities

  • Updated compliance requirements to ensure educators and services are well-supported and children remain protected

In Queensland, additional reforms under the upcoming Child Safe Organisations Act and the Early Childhood Workforce Strategy 2025–2028 are helping build a more skilled, safe, and accountable early education sector. At Skippy’s, we are already aligning our policies, procedures, and training with these updates, so families can have confidence that their children are cared for safely every day.

Day for Daniel: Standing Together for Child Safety

October is also the month of Day for Daniel, Australia’s National Day of Action to raise awareness of child safety, protection, and prevention of harm. At Skippy’s, we encourage all children and educators to wear red on the day as a symbol of support for child safety.

Participating in Day for Daniel ties directly into our everyday practices:

  • We teach children about personal safety in age-appropriate ways

  • We maintain safe and secure learning environments

  • We foster partnerships with families to ensure children feel supported and protected both at home and in care

Why It Matters

Child safety is more than policies or procedures — it’s a shared commitment. At Skippy’s, our educators in Rockhampton, Gracemere, Yeppoon, and across Central Queensland are dedicated to:

  • Following best-practice safety and wellbeing standards

  • Ensuring children are actively supervised and cared for

  • Engaging families in discussions about safety, growth, and learning

By embracing the latest regulations, participating in initiatives like Day for Daniel, and fostering strong relationships with families, we aim to create environments where children can thrive safely and confidently.

Together, we can make every day a day that keeps children safe.
